Flower Porphyry
This is a local British Columbia stone that is found on beaches and at the south end of Salt Spring Island.
Little feldspar phenocrysts form these "flowers in the host rock.
This was found personally by the artist.
Raspberry Obsidian
This is snowflake obsidian with red flakes hence the name Raspberry Obsidian.
Salt Spring Island Rhodonite
This is some of our own Salt Spring Island Rhodonite.
There were 2 active claims here and much of this stone was mined out in the 60's.
Ihave run across this stone in a few basements of friends and have a fair batch on hand.
Some is very pink and pure while some shows interesting lines of manganese in them.
