Handcrafted Silver Jade Ring
Jade is the name for gemstones composed of either or both of two different minerals, Jadeite and Nephrite. Jadeite is the typical “Chinese Jade although it is found in a few places worldwide. Nephrite is a fine-grained, calcium-rich, magnesium, iron, aluminous stone that is found here in British Columbia and elsewhere.. All jade is made of fine-grained, matted and interlocking crystals of one or both of these minerals. Jades are very tough gem minerals because of the intergrown nature of the individual crystals and has been used for centuries for wonderful gemstone carving material.
Intricate jade sculptures have been made in China and the east for thousands of years..
Much jade on the market is nephrite while jadeite jade is quite rare and in its emerald-green, translucent form is referred to as Imperial Jade or “gem jade”. Other color-based names for jadeite jade are Yunan Jade, for a uniquely appearing dark green, semitranslucent jade, Apple Jade for apple (yellowish green) green jade, and Moss-in-Snow for white jade with vivid green spots and streaks.
