Sterling Silver Garnet Ring

A simple Garnet Gemstone Ring

The garnet group includes a group of minerals that have been used since the Bronze Age as gemstones and abrasives. The name “garnet” may come from either the Middle English word gernet meaning ‘dark red’, or the Latin granatus (“grain”), which refers to the pomegranate, which has juicy red seeds quite similar to some garnet crystals.
Six common species of garnet are recognized by their chemical composition. They are pyrope, almandine, spessartine, grossular (varieties of which are hessonite or cinnamon-stone and tsavorite), uvarovite and andradite.
Garnets have been used for centuries dating from late Roman times to the present. Garnet jewelry was popular in the middle ages right up to the Victorian era.
Garnet is considered the birthstone for January and the zodiac sign of Capricorn.

The stone used for this custom* ring is a 9x12mm oval and can be ordered in any finger size.
*As these rings are made one at a time, variations in the final design can occur.
