Art Nouveau Amethyst and Moonstone Ring

Amethyst is a type of quartz which is given its purple color from elements of manganese and iron bonded to its molecular structure.
Amethyst is said to help induce sleep and dreaming. The word is named after a Greek maiden named “Amethystos” who refused the affections of Dionysus and hence amethyst is said to prevent drunkeness.
Amethyst is also the birthstone for February.

Moonstone is an orthoclase feldspar and is given its name because of the chatoyant play of light found in these wonderful stones.
The moonstone family is quite large. labradorite, spectralite, albite, kyanite and amazonite are all in the same family of minerals.
Moonstone is one of the birthstones for June.
